Job Description
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Operations & Production Management
- Lead and manage department managers within the foundry operations, including molding, core making, pouring, and finishing, as assigned.
- Establish foundry goals and objectives; monitor and evaluate operating performance; provide direction, judgment, leadership, and technical expertise to maximize efficiency
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality, safety, and cost targets
- Monitor production metrics such as throughput, yield, scrap, rework, and on time delivery
- Coordinate with planning to ensure material availability and efficient workflow
- Troubleshoot production and process issues to minimize downtime and disruptions
- Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, customer specifications, and internal procedures
- Work closely with Quality to reduce scrap, defects, and customer returns
- Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
- Ensure proper documentation, process control, and adherence to ISO or customer requirements
- Cross-Functional Support
- Work with Maintenance and Engineering to ensure equipment uptime and reliability
- Participate in capital planning, equipment repairs, upgrades, and new installations
- Manage departmental budget as well as control labor, materials, energy, and consumable costs
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
- Evaluate new technology and how it can be applied to enhance the operation
- Attend trade shows and other events to promote capacity and capabilities of the facility
- People Leadership & Workforce Development
- Directly manage managers, supervisors, leads, and production teams across shifts
- Hire, train, coach, and develop employees to build a skilled, accountable workforce
- Manage labor planning, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Foster employee engagement, teamwork, and adherence to company values
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience leading teams in a foundry (metals, castings, machined components, or similar).
- Understanding of electric melt, preferred.
