ABOUT
The Family Learning Center is an Early Childhood Development Laboratory School, which exists to provide quality care for young children and a quality learning experience for College students preparing for careers in Early Childhood.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Prepare and implement an early childhood education curriculum for children ages six weeks through five years of age. Detailed lesson plans must be completed weekly for the appropriate classroom.
- Maintain developmental records, portfolios, etc. for children to ensure their needs are being met. The case records should have completed forms, narratives, and reports to provide an accurate picture of each child.
- Plan and prepare a classroom environment that promotes the cultural variety found in our society.
- Promote and demonstrate appropriate respect for cultural diversity among coworkers, College students, and all work-related contacts.
- Maintain the arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment following appropriate standards. Adherence to the Center’s dress code is an integral part of this standard.
- Interact and maintain positive professional relationships with College staff, students, parents, and children.
- Model best practices and developmentally appropriate activities for children in each classroom to provide a good field experience for College students who are assigned observation time at the Laboratory School.
- Maintain and enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education through activities including workshops and/or courses and membership in professional organizations.
- Attend work regularly in accordance with the College and Center policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment: Work is rarely required outside of normal business hours.
Physical Demands: Ability to perform activities, including but not limited to sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying, as required by a child care facility. Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds each workday.
Travel Required: Yes- Minimal
If travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current, valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

Additional Job-Specific Requirements
- Candidate must obtain and maintain a clear background check as outlined by Texas Minimum Standards for Licensed Child Care centers before employment and throughout the duration of employment.
- Must know and consistently meet Texas Minimum Standards for Licensed Child Care Centers established by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services Child Care Licensing Division.
