SUMMARY
The Mental Health Counselor provides individual and family counseling to children, adolescents, and/or adults in an integrated care setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Works from a strengths-based perspective and empowers patients appropriately within their natural support systems
- Serves all patients with compassion, many of whom have experienced past or present exposure to trauma, chronic medical conditions, poverty, and healthcare disparities
- Provides a high level of customer service consistent with best practice standards in the mental health field
- Maintains confidentiality
- Maintains required records
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field required
- Current Texas licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) required
- Two (2) or more years of outpatient counseling/therapy experience, preferably in a community health setting, preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Knowledge of and experience with mandated reporting requirements, including identification and reporting of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children, elderly individuals, and persons with disabilities
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation
SKILLS
- Proficient in the use of electronic health records
- EPIC experience a plus
TRAVEL
This position is located in Chapel Hill and requires occasional ability to travel to FCC site in Tyler.
