The Shipping/Receiving/Customer Service Clerk is a split-role position, with responsibilities divided approximately 50/50 between customer service and shipping/receiving duties. At the window, the clerk checks drivers in and out, verifies shipments, assigns doors, and maintains the schedule, while simultaneously managing assigned customer accounts. Account responsibilities include order entry, scheduling, billing, problem resolution, and coordination with internal teams and customers, all requiring a high degree of accuracy. This role requires the ability to multitask and balance both areas effectively throughout the day.
Responsibilities:
- Checking drivers in and out of the facility.
- Verifying pick up and drop off information based on the driver’s information.
- Assigning doors to drivers based on warehouse locations.
- Maintain the schedule for the respective facility and update appointments as drivers check in and out.
- Verifying packing lists and Bills of Ladings for accuracy.
- Review outgoing shipment paperwork to make sure they conform with specifications and instructions.
- Keeping original paperwork together and scan to customer service supervisor as drivers are signed out.
- Forward items to different departments as needed.
- Maintain yard check to share accurate information about trailers located on the premises, and share the information with the parties needed.
- Communicate with customer service team on any challenges or issues.
- Maintain emails to match up outside BOLs and instructions for specific orders.
- Availability for travel to other locations as required for coverage.
- Cross-train on other customer accounts within the facility to provide coverage during scheduled PTO or absences of peers, ensuring continuity of service.
