Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring all materials are ready for procedures.
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of treatments including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and other medical imaging to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records using Open Dental Patient Management Software to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
- Educate patients on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive practices while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Perform vital signs measurement and review medical histories to support comprehensive patient care.
- Follow infection prevention management protocols including dental sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and infection control standards aligned with healthcare regulations.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure or registration as required by local regulations.
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a general dentistry or specialty setting such as pediatric dentistry or oral surgery.
- Proficiency with dental software systems including Open Dental; familiarity with patient management software is a plus.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment operation, and medical documentation standards.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely following HIPAA guidelines and radiation safety protocols.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and dental sterilization procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient management and teamwork in a four-handed dentistry environment.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection control standards and medical terminology related to dentistry.
