Job Category Legal, Compliance & Audit Position Summary Firestone Polymers is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Environmental Manager to lead environmental compliance, sustainability, and risk management programs across our polymer manufacturing operations. This role ensures adherence to all federal, state, and local environmental regulations and supports our commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship. Responsibilities The Sr. Manager, Environmental Health & Safety is responsible for leading the environmental department and acting as the subject matter expert for all applicable environmental requirements of the site, including: Overseeing environmental compliance and maintaining permits: Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations including air, water, waste, and hazardous materials Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies (EPA, LDEQ, etc) Lead permitting activities, including Title V, NPDES, stormwater, and RCRA Prepare, check, and submit required regulatory reports (TRI, Tier II, GHG, MACT, etc) Determine the applicability of new and existing environmental regulations to processes and operations Developing a strong environmental management system and strategy: Develop and implement environmental programs, processes, and procedures and budgets. Select, record, analyze, and report environmental metrics and performance indicators to drive continuous improvement Manage audits, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up Drive the site’s sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, emissions control, and resource conservation. Assess and mitigate environmental risks and liabilities proactively Liaising with agency, corporate, and community stakeholders. Delivering training, learning, and development requirements to employees. Acting as a subject matter expert and resource to all departments. Integrating sound environmental practices into daily activities through collaboration with operations. Building, mentoring, and maintaining a high-performing team. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressive environmental experience in a chemical, polymer, or manufacturing setting. Prior experience managing regulatory agency interactions (EPA, TCEQ, LDEQ, etc.) is essential. Strong background in Title V air permitting and multimedia compliance. Certifications: CHMM, QEP, or similar certification a plus. Working Conditions: Primarily onsite with regular interaction on the plant floor and occasional travel to other company sites or regulatory meetings. Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions including indoor/outdoor plant environments.
