Job Category Engineering & Science Position Summary The Senior Engineering Manager position has responsibility for more than one Specialization within their group and will provide leadership to the Chemical, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering teams in a petro chemical manufacturing environment. Hands on experience in the petro chemical industry is absolutely essential. A Senior Manager position typically manages a department or small unit that includes multiple teams led by managers and/or team leaders. Problems faced are often complex and require extensive investigation and analysis. This position requires the ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and the ability to communicate and influence executive leadership on a regular basis. Knowledge of PSM, environmental regulations, and other such industry related experiences are required. Experience with process simulation software, such as ASPEN, would be a plus! Responsibilities Develops and ensures adoption of short to mid-term strategy/results and execution of functional strategy for the operational direction of the department Oversees continuous improvement/automation implementation activities Leverages institutional knowledge for strategy development Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders Influences, coaches, and develops direct reports/teams Other duties as assigned This positions is necessary as it plays an essential role in the following critical functions: - Ensuring engineering compliance with regulatory requirements and RAGAGEP (Recognized and generally accepted good engineering practice) including process safety management (PSM). - Providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineering staff as it pertains to the complex operational demands of a chemical facility in order to drive continuous improvement in efficiency, cost optimization, and competitiveness. - Assessing new technologies and developing the capital plan to align with mid to long term business strategy. - Driving collaboration between process design engineering and capital project engineering to ensure projects deliver desired objectives. - Developing and refining engineering workflows and processes to ensure a quality output and informed stakeholders.
