Job description
AMERI-CANS is looking to hire a full-time Driver (CDL Class A) at our location in Summerville, SC. This is a key role leading the day-to-day execution of a rapidly growing portable sanitation company that takes pride in doing things the right way and executing the impossible. Owned by Marine Corps veterans, we have a dynamic team of technicians, operations and maintenance staff that hold the highest standard of performance, integrity, and customer service, without compare. This position consists of servicing, cleaning and stocking portable toilets, holding tanks, freshwater systems, hand-wash stations and restroom-shower trailers as needed. You are responsible for completing daily routes, while maintaining professional customer contact and open lines of communication with the dispatcher. We are driven by purpose, with a vision to grow in a meaningful way that allows us to continue to impact on our community of veterans and their families. We work for that vision every day and we are looking to add this critical role to the team with someone who is ready to perform at a high level on Day 1.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Service, clean and stock portable toilets, holding tanks, freshwater systems, hand-wash stations and restroom-shower trailers as needed.
- Vacuum pump, clean and sanitize portable restroom units on customer site.
- Stock/replenish paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap and refill water holding tanks.
- Performing daily maintenance of truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.)
- Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers daily for completing service routes
- Obeying and following applicable traffic laws
- Repair portable restroom units onsite as necessary.
- Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle
- Complying with truck driving rules and regulations
- Reporting defects, accidents, and violations
- Interacting with customers in a professional
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of truck driving experience (CDL license Class A), and DOT medical card must be obtained prior to commencing employment
- A valid driver's license and safe clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, to be familiar with not just traffic laws but rules regarding how often they are required to rest, maximum miles driven and the like.
- Physical fitness since Service Technicians and Assistant Divers are required to pass a physical exam every two years.
- Adherence to a background check.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States of America. Some of the job sites that we support require U.S. American citizenship and a clean criminal history in order to access their sites.
Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are the representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Position requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time; move fingers and hands, ability to stoop, crawl, bend, twist, reach, and crouch. Perform the essential duties with minimal or no supervision. Lift and carry up to 50lbs and drag 185lbs.
