Job Summary
English Language Development (ELD) Teacher 0.5 FTE - Temporary for 2026-2027 186 contract days This position is primarily responsible for effective teaching and learning of English Language Development for students in grade TK-6 using district approved curriculum, instruction and assessment practices. Primary responsibility shall include student safety and appropriate collaboration and attention to each student’s readiness to learn including needed guidance, discipline, and welfare. Job Duties • Works with English Language Students and supports teachers with integrated and designated EL instruction. • Classroom instruction for ELD students • Assess and determine needs for EL students and provide various instructional support aligned with proficiency levels and grade level standards • Employs various educational approaches in teaching targeted skills to students. • Assists in administering the CELDT test to EL students in grades TK-6 • Works with teachers in developing school’s specific professional development needs for ELD students. • Assists with transition and reclassification of students to the regular education program. • Evaluates, selects, and requisitions appropriate instructional materials. QUALIFICATIONS • Appropriate California Teaching Credential, and current Bilingual Certificate of Competence in Spanish. • Ability to speak, read and write standard English and Spanish fluently. • Attention to detail, accurate record keeping, organizational and time management skills. • Self-reliant. Be able to develop and administer the ELD program independently. • An awareness, affinity and enjoyment of other cultures. • Community oriented; effective net-working skills EXPERIENCE Training and experience teaching English to English Learners (could include foreign language teaching experience, especially Spanish; BCLAD credential, TESOL certificate).
