About Us

We are a busy Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) and specialty (spine) medical clinic dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to manage billing operations for both our surgery center and clinic practices.

Position Summary

The ASC & Clinic Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for submitting claims, following up on unpaid accounts, resolving billing issues, posting payments, and ensuring accurate reimbursement from insurance carriers and patients. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of medical billing, insurance regulations, and revenue cycle management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Submit and monitor electronic insurance claims for ASC and clinic services.
  • Review claims for accuracy and completeness prior to submission.
  • Follow up on denied, rejected, and unpaid claims.
  • Research and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
  • Verify insurance benefits and authorization requirements when needed.
  • Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and appeals.
  • Generate patient statements and assist with patient billing inquiries.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and payer regulations.
  • Work closely with providers, clinical staff, and administration to maximize reimbursement.
  • Assist with month-end reporting and accounts receivable management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience required.
  • ASC billing experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
  • Experience working with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and workers' compensation.
  • Strong understanding of claim denials, appeals, and accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in surgical specialties and outpatient surgery billing.
  • Familiarity with credentialing and payer enrollment processes.
