We are seeking a Director of Technology to own our company’s technical direction, architecture, and engineering standards.
This role sits above day-to-day service delivery and is responsible for designing, governing, and protecting the technology platform that our teams execute against. The Director of Technology ensures consistency, scalability, security alignment, and long-term viability of the stack—while partnering closely with Operations and Security.
This is not a ticket-management, SLA, or service-desk leadership role.
What You’ll Be Responsible ForTechnology Strategy & Architecture (Primary Focus)
- Own the technology roadmap and future-state platform design
- Guide the evolution of the stack as it impacts how services are delivered
- Reduce technical debt, complexity, and delivery friction
- Align technology decisions to the company’s 3-year strategic plan
- Support margin improvement through standardization and automation
Standards, Tools & Governance
- Define and enforce technical architecture and engineering standards
- Own the approved tool stack and core platforms
- Serve as final authority on non-security technical decisions and exceptions
- Evaluate and approve new tools, vendors, and integrations
- Prevent ad-hoc or client-driven deviations from standards
Security Partnership
- Partner with the Security Lead to embed security requirements into architecture
- Ensure security controls are built into platform design and standards
- Support audits, compliance efforts, and client security requirements
- Escalate unresolved security-risk conflicts when needed
Engineering Leadership
- Provide leadership and guidance to senior engineers and technical leads
- Define engineering quality standards and escalation frameworks
- Act as escalation point for complex or high-risk technical issues
- Prevent “architecture by escalation” or one-off exceptions
People Leadership (Technology Team)
- Provide functional leadership and coaching to technical staff
- Define technical role expectations and competency frameworks
- Conduct performance reviews and development planning
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and role transitions
- Address performance gaps through structured improvement plans
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations and Service Delivery to align execution with standards
- Support Sales and Client Services with sound technical solution design
- Advise the CEO on technology strategy, investment, and risk
- Architect stack changes that improve client outcomes and delivery efficiency
What This Role Does Not Own
- Ticket queues or scheduling
- SLA performance or service desk staffing
- Routine client communications
- Day-to-day service delivery throughput
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience leading technology architecture or platform strategy
- Strong background in standards-driven environments (MSP, SaaS, regulated IT, etc.)
- Ability to lead through clarity, guardrails, and structure
- Comfortable making and enforcing long-term technical decisions
- Collaborative leader who partners well with Operations and Security
- Experience managing and developing senior technical talent
