Veterinary Assistant

We are seeking a veterinary assistant for our fast paced, five doctor practice. We offer full service boarding, professional grooming, and hospital care.

Veterinary Assistant (VA) helps the doctors, technicians, kennel staff, and receptionists in all duties of the hospital. VA’s play an important role in bringing comfort to our furry patients and ensuring the smooth running of our facility. To ensure success you need to love animals and have the ability to optimize their comfort during treatment and hospitalization. This is a very physical job, you will be standing and lifting often and will need to be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

Veterinary Assistants provide for the constant cleanliness of the hospital, as well as all patient wards, cages, and runs. The Veterinary assistants are responsible for the daily care of our patients, sample handling/preparation/running/shipping, they are required to assist the doctors and technicians with restraint and other responsibilities according to individual abilities and training.

Preferred skills include medication administration, animal restraint, lab specimen collection, and surgical prep. Client education and communication. Assisting with medical procedures. Laboratory equipment maintenance. Surgical tool cleaning and sterilization.

Your hourly wage will be based on your previous experience. Wages are competitive.

Office hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30am-7pm and Fridays 7:30am-4:30pm

At least one opening and one closing shift required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Veterinary Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
• Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
