This is a full-time, non-union position in the Service Department with benefits and time off upon meeting eligibility requirements.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Ensures upkeep of all City infrastructures including: buildings, vehicles, equipment, parks facilities and grounds.
  • Plans the department’s daily activities and individual job assignments.
  • Keeps records of all department operations.
  • Ensures that all department activities are carried out in an effective, efficient manner.
  • Processes employee off-time requests.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of the department’s employee training program.
  • Ensures that the City’s safety program and procedures are followed by all department employees.
  • Maintains working relationship with other City Departments.
  • Recommends purchases including: operational supplies, safety supplies, equipment and tools and janitorial supplies.
  • Maintains inventory.
  • Assists with the development of the department budgets.
  • Assists with development of department manuals, forms and policies.
  • Evaluates employee performance.
  • May be assigned to a shift.  
  • Must participate in all city-sponsored training and continuing education activities including classroom, manufacturer provided, seminars, etc.
  • Reliable, punctual in-person attendance. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommending, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; recommending reward and discipline of employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED), and three (3) to five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous leadership experience preferred. 
  • Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to recognize potentially unsafe conditions and behaviors and correct them in a positive and appropriate manner.
  • Ability to input, access, and retrieve data from the computer.
  • Must possess a valid State of Ohio, Class A Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement and an acceptable driving record. 
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

  • Ability to work as a team and to lead a team. 
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and manage quickly evolving situations.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions, The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste and smell. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Salary : $62,400 - $93,600
