Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with canine and feline restraint, medication administration, laboratory sample collection, and other basic medical procedures.
- Provide compassionate patient care, including feeding, walking, monitoring hospitalized patients, and maintaining patient comfort and cleanliness.
- Support veterinarians and technicians during examinations, treatments, surgery, rehabilitation, and other medical procedures by preparing equipment and treatment areas.
- Collect, prepare, and process laboratory samples and maintain accurate medical records.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate concerns to the veterinary team.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary hospital environment, including exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and reception spaces.
- Greet clients and their pets warmly and professionally, creating a positive first and last impression of the clinic.
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, respond to client inquiries, process payments, and assist with patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Coordinate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, and other team members to ensure efficient patient care and client communication.
- Assist with prescription refills, preventive care reminders, medical record requests, and client education regarding treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
- Demonstrate compassion, professionalism, and empathy when interacting with clients, patients, and team members.
- Prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and a positive attitude.
- Uphold the clinic's mission, values, and commitment to exceptional patient care and client service.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a veterinary hospital, animal boarding facility, daycare, shelter, kennel, or customer service environment preferred.
- Knowledge of canine and feline behavior, handling, and restraint techniques preferred.
- Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and work collaboratively with team members.
- Compassionate, patient, and comfortable working with animals that may be stressed, fearful, ill, or in pain.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy clinical environment.
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn veterinary practice management software.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, laboratory procedures, medication administration, and basic patient care preferred.
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and strong work ethic.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently while contributing positively to a team-oriented culture.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
