What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineer position at Twin Rivers Paper Company LLC?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify potential for improvement and optimization in the areas of chemical usage, product performance and manufacturing.
- Develop and run mill trials to support new product development.
- Work with Mill superintendents, Quality Dept., Sales Dept. and/or Technical Dept. to address customer concerns.
- Understand the relationship between paper properties and associated papermaking variables (i.e. fiber types, machine settings, chemical interactions, etc.).
- Meet with raw material vendors and equipment suppliers to stay current of new technology and the potential benefits to Twin Rivers Paper.
- Perform handsheet studies, coating drawdowns or other paper testing as needed.
- When applicable, provide technical/process support to the Engineering Dept.
- Observing and following plant rules for safety and GMPs
Education, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor of Science degree required. A degree in Paper Science and Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred.
- 1 years of paper mill or other associated with paper manufacturing experience, required. Knowledge of paper process chemistry needed, knowledge of dyes and colors preferred.
- Excellent motivation and communication skills.
- Good data analysis skills.
- Commitment to safety and quality. Must be comfortable around paper making machinery and working in a paper manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to be proactive and try new things.
- Good computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database).
- Willingness to travel.
