Job Summary
This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting instrumentation and electronic systems used in oilfield and industrial applications. The I&E Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment operates safely, accurately, and efficiently in both shop and field environments. Key Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation and electronic systems
- Work with measurement and control devices including radar level measurement, pressure and temperature instruments, and flow measurement systems
- Install and service gas measurement equipment including flow computers, Coriolis meters, magnetic flow meters, and turbine meters
- Troubleshoot and maintain digital level switches and related instrumentation
- Assist with PLC operation and basic programming tasks
- Perform low voltage wiring and assist with control panel work
- Support and maintain radio networks and wireless communication systems
- Work with communication protocols including Modbus, HART, and Ethernet
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Respond to field service calls and support customer operations as needed
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company policies and safety standards
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including service reports and logs
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized manner
- Provide excellent customer service while working in the field and interacting with clients
- Participate in on-call rotation as required
- Other duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in instrumentation, electronics, or electrical systems preferred
- Knowledge of oil and gas well operations
- Familiarity with instrumentation and measurement systems such as radar level, pressure, temperature, and flow measurement devices
- Basic understanding of PLC operation and control systems
- Knowledge of low voltage wiring and communication systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability and willingness to learn new technology
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move up to 75 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in instrumentation, electrical, or I&E-related field
- Experience working in oil and gas or industrial environments
- Familiarity with gas measurement systems and flow computers
- Experience with communication protocols such as Modbus, HART, and Ethernet
- Basic PLC programming experience
