Pharmacy Assistant

Duties

• Assist in dispensing medications under the supervision of a pharmacist.
• Receive and process prescription orders from customers or healthcare professionals.
• Measure, count, and package medications accurately.
• Prepare labels for medication containers.
• Maintain inventory of medications and supplies.
• Monitor stock levels and place orders for replenishment.
• Check the expiration dates of medications and remove expired stock.
• Provide excellent customer service, answering inquiries and assisting customers.
• Handle cash transactions and operate the cash register.
• Maintain patient records and update relevant information.
• File insurance claims and handle paperwork related to prescriptions.
• Assist with the compounding of medications, as needed.
• Use and maintain pharmacy equipment and technology.
• Adhere to pharmacy regulations, ethical standards, and patient confidentiality.

Experience

• Prior experience as a pharmacy technician or assistant is highly desirable
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology relevant to pharmacy practice.
• Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically in high-pressure situations.
• Proven ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining attention to detail in fast-paced settings.

Job Types: Part-time, PRN

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week
