Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks such as tractor-trailers, tanker trucks, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other freight vehicles to deliver propane and related products.
- Load and unload cargo using forklifts or manual methods, ensuring proper handling and securing of goods for transport.
- Follow designated route driving plans to ensure timely deliveries while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections on vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before each trip.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including logs of routes driven, loads delivered, and any incidents or discrepancies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or delivery issues.
- Assist with warehouse duties when not on the road, including loading trucks and preparing freight for dispatch.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements appropriate for propane delivery; experience operating manual transmission vehicles is preferred.
- Proven truck driving experience, especially in commercial settings involving propane or similar hazardous materials.
- Familiarity with operating various vehicle types such as tanker trucks, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and tractor-trailers.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or manual techniques; previous forklift certification is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of route driving best practices with an emphasis on safety and efficiency.
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads and perform vehicle inspections regularly; comfortable working in various weather conditions.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and customers effectively.
