JOB GOAL:

We are seeking someone to support the Special Education Director in assisting special education staff and enhancing the education of students with disabilities. This involves implementing best practices and current techniques that promote student success. Additionally, the role includes contributing to a positive and efficient environment within the Twin Falls Special Education Department by encouraging staff to share their successes, challenges, and concerns. Under the guidance of the Director of Support Services, this position will also facilitate the smooth and effective operation of Special Education and Medicaid billing process to maximize its positive impact on the school district.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Special Education Director and Special Education Department with daily operations and department needs
  • Assist special education staff with paperwork, timelines, compliance requirements, and student documentation
  • Help coordinate and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), evaluations, Medicaid billing documentation, and student records
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with staff, parents, students, community agencies, and state organizations
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, trainings, evaluations, and department events
  • Monitor deadlines and help ensure required reports and documentation are completed on time
  • Provide support and guidance to staff regarding department procedures and processes
  • Assist with data entry, reporting, and organization of department information
  • Support a positive, collaborative, and solution-focused department culture
  • Perform general office duties including answering phones, responding to emails, filing, copying, and preparing documents
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all areas of responsibility
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Support Services

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a special education secretary
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently with district personnel, community and state organizations, as well as the public
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines
  • Must have strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain high standards of ethical behavior, professionalism, and confidentiality of information
  • Must have a good understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Individual Education Process (IEP), Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), and 504 accommodations
  • Understand the HIPPA and FERPA laws as it pertains to special education
  • Understand the Medicaid law and billing process
  • Above average computer applications in word processing, spreadsheets, bookkeeping, and database software; ability to learn district software systems and procedures
  • Knowledge of modern office equipment such as telephone, email, voicemail, fax, and using the Internet
  • Ability to be flexible, yet highly organized
  • Must have regular, predictable and timely attendance

This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment "at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.

Starting Salary Range: $18.94 per hour depending on experience

Employment is contingent upon board approval and successful completion of federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
