Under the direction of the Nurse Director, functions as a member of the Patient Care Team to implement the patient's plan of care. Assigned responsibility and accountability for an individual or group of patients during a designated time frame. The float nurse provides specialized care consistent with the policies, procedures, and standards of care and designated competencies. Promotes and maintains quality patient care and assists in teaching nursing staff.

Minimum Education
- Must be a graduate of a school of nursing and hold current registered nurse license recognized by the Virginia State Board of Nursing.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience is required in critical care, ED, PACU, or similar.
- Must respond within 60 minutes if placed on call.
- Current RN license required
- BLS required
- ACLS, PALS, NIH Education, and Handle with Care are required within 12 months.
- TNCC Preferred
