JOB TITLE: Teacher

 

REPORTS TO: Principal  

 

FLSA: Exempt

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY 

Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning. They should lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

Teachers shall hold an appropriate Missouri teacher's certificate.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  2. Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning, utilizing the resources provided by the district.
  3. Create and implement standards-aligned lesson plans incorporating evidence-based instructional practices, district guidelines, and maintain documentation accessible for administrative review upon request.
  4. Foster positive classroom culture by establishing behavioral expectations and standards with students.
  5. Employ a variety of instructional techniques, including personalized learning pathways, leveraging educational technology and digital resources to meet the diverse needs, learning styles, and capabilities of all students.
  6. Embody the district's mission and vision through evidence-based teaching practices that advance strategic educational goals and promote student achievement outcomes. 
  7. Implement comprehensive safety protocols to protect students, secure data, and maintain proper stewardship of district resources and facilities.
  8. Evaluate student progress regularly and report out according to district timelines for progress reports and report cards. 
  9.  Utilize data-driven assessment strategies incorporating both formative and summative approaches, leveraging digital tools to track progress, analyze performance metrics, provide timely feedback, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  10. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  11. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies.
  12. Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  13. Actively participate in faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and collaborative team planning, as scheduled.
  14. Contribute to grade-level, subject area, and cross-curricular teams and committees to develop integrated learning experiences aligned with district initiatives.
  15. Collaborate with colleagues to design coherent instructional frameworks, including vertical alignment of curriculum and cross-disciplinary connections.
  16. Participate in evaluating and selecting instructional materials, digital resources, and educational technologies that support Missouri Learning Standards and district curriculum.
  17. Build positive relationships with all educational stakeholders, including community partners and industry connections for authentic learning opportunities.
  18. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their families concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  19. Provide for their professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning.

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Participate as a member of student support teams (IEP, 504, MTSS) or any other student support teams as requested.
  2. Implement individualized educational plans (i.e., IEP, 504, and/or health plans), utilizing appropriate accommodations, modifications, and assistive technologies to ensure equitable access for all learners.
  3. Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harassment as directed by Board policy.
  4. Participate in district trainings on safety protocols, crisis response, and emergency management, including digital threat assessment.

 

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

Supervise students at all times.

 

MENTAL DEMANDS 

An individual who holds this position must have the ability to identify the needs and abilities of individual students and to adapt instructional methods accordingly. A teacher will read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, board policy, administrative procedures and forms, and governmental regulations and guidance. This person should also have the ability to maintain highly confidential information; communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and/or ability to reason and make appropriate decisions, as well as solve a variety of problems in many different situations and have strong attention to detail. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, an employee is regularly required to speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously, move around the classroom, and read handwritten or printed material.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active.  Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 

Salary and work year will be in accordance with the current teacher salary schedule and the Professional Agreement. Days employed in excess of the established work calendar shall be payable at the employee’s regular daily rate. 

 

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
