We are a locally owned New Mexico homebuilder constructing homes ranging from attainable entry-level housing to luxury and custom homes. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team and play an important role in supporting our financial operations.
This is an opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys more than simply processing transactions. You'll have ownership of key accounting functions, work closely with company leadership, and help ensure our financial information gives the organization the accurate and timely information it needs to make good decisions.
What You'll Do
As our Senior Accountant, you'll be a key member of the accounting and finance team with responsibilities that include:
- Prepare and post general ledger closing entries
- Perform bank reconciliations and reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Prepare prepaid expense, accrual, and amortization entries
- Analyze budget-to-actual performance and assist with financial reporting
- Maintain accurate fixed-asset accounting
- Support the annual financial audit by preparing schedules and required documentation
- Prepare and submit loan documentation to banking partners
- Utilize online banking platforms for remote deposits, Positive Pay approvals, and reporting
- Assist with general ledger accounting and financial data management
- Process a limited volume of Accounts Payable transactions as needed
- Assist the Finance Manager with special projects, analysis, and other accounting needs
- Help identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls as the company grows
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum of 3 years of professional accounting experience
- Strong general ledger accounting experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, particularly for financial reporting and analysis
- Strong analytical and mathematical abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines
- Comfortable adapting to changing priorities in a growing company
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach
