Position Overview:
The Wound Care Nurse / Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating wound care services while assisting with the day-to-day clinical operations of an assigned unit. This role ensures high-quality resident care, supports nursing staff, and promotes a positive, team-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Wound Care Duties:
Assess, treat, and monitor residents with wounds, pressure injuries, and skin conditions
Develop and implement individualized wound care plans
Perform routine wound rounds and documentation
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and clinical standards related to wound care
Educate nursing staff on wound prevention and treatment best practices
Unit Manager Support Duties:
Assist in overseeing daily operations of the unit
Support staffing coordination, assignments, and workflow
Provide guidance and mentorship to nursing staff (STNAs, LPNs, RNs)
Conduct clinical rounds and ensure quality of care
Assist with admissions, discharges, and care planning
Promote resident satisfaction and a positive team culture
Qualifications:
Current RN license in the state of Ohio
Wound Care Certification preferred
Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred
Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus
Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills
