[REMOTE] Assistant Controller – Outsourced Accounting & Advisory Description
Our client is an outsourced advisory firm, but they’re open to strong corporate accounting candidates who want to diversify their experience by managing multiple clients across different industries. You’ll get the variety of client work without the demanding hours typically associated with public accounting.
As an Assistant Controller, you’ll oversee a portfolio of 5–6 clients, typically supporting businesses ranging from under $1M to $10M in revenue. You’ll be hands-on with full-cycle accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close, while also serving as a financial partner to clients and helping them make informed business decisions. Depending on the client, you may manage the accounting and client relationship directly, oversee a Staff Accountant supporting you, or partner closely with the firm’s CFO on higher-level financial matters. [REMOTE] Assistant Controller – Outsourced Accounting & Advisory Responsibilities
• Oversee a portfolio of clients, including hands-on full-cycle accounting
• Prepare financial statements and reporting packages for clients
• Review account activity and investigate variances and discrepancies
• Analyze financial results and identify trends and opportunities
• Serve as a primary accounting contact for assigned clients
• Present financial results and explain key findings to clients
• Review Staff Accountant work and provide guidance as needed
• Perform hands-on accounting work based on client needs
• Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation
• Improve accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls
[REMOTE] Assistant Controller – Outsourced Accounting & Advisory Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5 years of progressive accounting experience required
• Experience working in complex accounting environments, such as multiple entities, locations, or business units required
• Experience leading month-end close and preparing financial statements required
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, required
