Mechanical Project Engineer

Location: near Auburn Hills, MI; 1-day WFH/weekly

Base Salary: $110,000-$120,000 Profit Sharing

Mechanical Project Engineer (fluid or material systems delivery exp. req.) Description

Our client, an industry leader in engineered systems, is hiring a Project Engineer for their team outside of Auburn Hills, MI. You’ll work alongside four other Project Engineers and collaborate closely with Field Techs and the Design Engineering team to take projects from concept to completion. In this role, you’ll coordinate each engineering phase, from early design through fabrication and assembly, ensuring everything stays aligned. Responsibilities include developing process schematics, selecting components, and making sure pneumatic logic integrates smoothly with the overall design. Project Engineers typically manage 3-5 projects at a time, ranging from a few months to multi-year initiatives. Ideal candidates will have a strong mechanical aptitude with experience working on material delivery systems projects. Mechanical Project Engineer (fluid or material systems delivery exp. req.) Responsibilities

• Size and design piping networks, including flow rate and pressure loss calculations

• Create detailed P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and schematic drawings, including BOMs

• Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback to optimize system performance

• Support equipment builds, assisting with troubleshooting and system validation

• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications

• Coordinate engineering activities and communicate updates to customers

• Execute projects to meet defined scope, timeline, and quality standards

• Travel to job sites to support initial design, commissioning, and troubleshooting

Mechanical Project Engineer (fluid or material systems delivery exp. req.) Qualifications

• Experience working with material delivery systems required

• Experience interpreting and working with process schematics required

• Hands-on experience with 2D CAD software required

• Valid passport or ability to obtain one (occasional travel to Canada required)

• Willingness and ability to travel around 20% required
