Director of Business Development – Description
Our client, a privately owned manufacturer of electronic and electrical products, is seeking a Director of Business Development to join its leadership team and play a key role in the company's long-term succession plan. For more than 30 years, the company has built a strong reputation for providing engineered products and customized solutions to commercial and industrial customers. With just 12 employees generating more than $14 million in annual revenue, the company operates with a lean, entrepreneurial structure where each individual has a meaningful impact on the business. The company has also built a significant Fortune 500 customer base and a strong foundation of repeat, diversified business, providing the stability of an established organization with the accessibility and autonomy of a smaller company.
This position has been created as one of the company's co-owners and current sales leaders begins planning for his transition out of the day-to-day business over the next 18–24 months. Initially, the role will be heavily focused on sales and business development, with responsibility for developing customer relationships, driving new business, managing key accounts and supporting complex projects from quoting through production. At the same time, the individual will work closely with the ownership team to learn the business and take on broader commercial responsibilities.
As the transition progresses, the role will expand beyond day-to-day sales into broader commercial strategy, business development and leadership. Ultimately, this position is designed to grow into a Vice President role and, over time, General Manager, with the opportunity to play a significant role in the company's future direction.
