Application Engineer
Location: near Columbus, OH (about 20 minutes north of Columbus)
Salary: $115,000-$145,000

Application Engineer (technical sales or engineering exp. within electronics req.) Description
Our client, an electronic manufacturer near Columbus, is looking for an Application Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will deliver technical presentations, work closely with engineering teams to understand customer needs, and identify opportunities to grow revenue within existing accounts. Deal sizes vary across their hardware solutions. Most customers generate between $50K and $200K annually, with larger accounts exceeding $1.5M. Their products are highly specialized, and their customer base is very stable, with about 80% selling directly to OEMs and the remainder through distribution. Although this is a full-cycle sales role, the primary focus is building strong, long-term relationships with current customers. Because of the technical nature of the products, prior experience in electronics is required. Aside from that, they are looking for someone who would enjoy working in a smaller, relationship-focused company that values partnership over pressure. Performance certainly matters, but the environment is more collaborative and less driven by rigid metrics than many larger organizations. • Build strong relationships with customers and understand their business needs
• Develop and implement sales strategies across OEM and distribution channels
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations
• Translate customer needs into technical proposals and solutions
• Identify and pursue upsell and cross-sell opportunities
• Serve as a consultative partner to key accounts and enhance organizational visibility
• Collaborate with engineering to understand capabilities, product lines, and company goals
• Attend industry events and visit customers to strengthen relationships
• Provide consistent follow-up ensuring long-term account growth and retention

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronics required
• Foundational knowledge of circuitry required
• Experience navigating sales or project cycles lasting six months or longer required
• 10% domestic travel required (typically, one-week overnight travel per quarter)
• Able to work onsite daily required
