Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Shipping Supervisor to lead our warehouse distribution operations. In this vital role, you will oversee shipping and receiving processes, manage inventory control, and ensure smooth logistics flow. Your leadership will drive process improvements, uphold safety standards, and foster a productive team environment to meet our high standards of service.
This is a working supervisor position. You will be on the floor daily, making sure the team is executing, materials are flowing correctly, and shipments are going out accurate and on time. You will also coordinate with other company locations to manage interfacility transfers
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Overtime may be required based on production and shipping needs.
Duties
- Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations for lumber and finished millwork products
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming lumber for accuracy and quality
- Ensure all outgoing orders are staged, loaded, and shipped correctly and on time
- Coordinate with production to align shipping with daily output and priorities
- Coordinate with other company locations to schedule and manage interfacility transfers
- Supervise shipping personnel and ensure work is completed efficiently and correctly
- Maintain proper material flow from incoming lumber through finished goods
- Manage inventory levels using warehouse management systems (WMS) and conduct regular inventory audits
- Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to optimize transportation and delivery schedules
- Verify all shipping and receiving paperwork for accuracy
- Keep the warehouse and staging areas organized and running efficiently
- Ensure proper handling and loading of wood products to prevent damage
- Assist with loading and unloading as needed
- Communicate with drivers, vendors, and internal teams to keep operations moving
- Enforce safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment
- Address issues as they come up and keep operations on track
- Assist in the shop as needed and directed
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse supervision required
- Experience in a manufacturing or millwork environment preferred
- Experience handling lumber, moulding, or building materials strongly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with basic to intermediate computer skills
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory tracking, and shipping systems
- Familiarity with coordinating 3PL providers and freight scheduling
- Forklift experience
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Good communication skills with production, drivers, and other locations
- Ability to hold a team accountable and keep work moving
- Ability to lift 50–100 lbs regularly
- This is not a desk position; candidates must be comfortable working on their feet and actively involved on the floor throughout the shift
