What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jewish Studies and Hebrew Teacher, Lower School position at TVT Community Day School?
A Jewish Studies Teacher at TVT creates a classroom that serves as an “oasis of the Jewish way,” especially for students who may come with limited Jewish background or opportunities to practice Judaism at home. As an ambassador of Jewish life and learning, this educator opens a window for both students and their families into the depth, relevance, and joy of Jewish tradition. Rooted deeply in our sacred texts, the teacher embodies the role of a “text person,” modeling Jewish values through daily actions and cultivating a classroom culture where Torah, Tefillah, Hebrew language, Jewish holidays, and Jewish living come to life. In our lower elementary classrooms, this looks like a warm, creative, and energetic presence who fosters joyful learning, supports students’ social-emotional and academic growth, and uses Jewish music as a vibrant and consistent tool to make learning meaningful, memorable, and alive.
