Robotics Maintenance & Field Service Technician II / III

Tutor
Atlanta, GA Full Time
POSTED ON 8/1/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/26/2027

Tutor · Atlanta, Georgia, United States (Remote)

Atlanta, GA · Remote, field-based · ~75% travel · $75K–$120K

Also a fit if you've worked as: Maintenance Technician · Field Service Engineer · Automation Technician · Robotics Technician · Mechatronics Technician

What you'll do

Deploy, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair advanced robots running in customer facilities across the Southeast. You own your territory: metro Atlanta (Fairburn, Buford, Social Circle), plus travel to Florida (Doral/Miami) and the Carolinas (Raleigh, NC; Fountain Inn, SC). No office, no manager on your shoulder — you're the face of Tutor to your customers and the person they call when something breaks. Every failure you root-cause feeds straight into the next generation of the product.

Hands-on electrical, software, and mechanical work, every day. This is a traveling field service role, not a desk job.

About Tutor

Tutor is an AI robotics company that builds and deploys autonomous robots directly into the factories and warehouses that need them. We believe general-purpose robots will be built in our lifetimes, and that real-world deployment is how the technology gets better. Every person on our team is trusted to own real problems and have real impact.

What we're looking for

We hire for mindset over credentials — self-direction, accountability, and a real love of solving hard technical problems matter more than any specific stack.

  • Strong electrical skills — reading schematics and wiring diagrams, tracing faults, working with motors, sensors, actuators, drives, and low-voltage control
  • Software comfort — reading logs, running diagnostics, Linux/command line, basic scripting, networking fundamentals (or the ability to learn fast)
  • Genuinely hands-on — strong mechanical intuition and real skill with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Experience maintaining, repairing, or deploying electromechanical systems: robotics, industrial automation, conveyors, AGVs/AMRs, CNC, packaging equipment, or similar
  • Able to root-cause a failure and drive it to resolution — not just swap parts
  • Solid documentation habits and strong async communication (Slack)
  • Comfortable owning customer relationships solo and figuring out ambiguous situations without a playbook
  • Willing to travel ~75% and manage your own schedule and routes
  • Based in metro Atlanta (or willing to relocate)
  • Valid driver's license and U.S. work authorization

Level II: ~2 years with industrial automation, robotics, conveyors, packaging equipment, AGVs/AMRs, CNC, or similar.

Level III: ~5 years, with a track record of leading tough diagnostics and being the person peers escalate to.

Nice to have

Linux · ROS · networking · scripting (Python/Bash) · robotics or automation experience · field service experience · bilingual (English/Spanish) · military technical background · startup experience · fabrication/machining/welding/3D printing.
