Details:
- In-Person Tutoring in San Francisco, CA
- Schedule: 20 hours a month; 3 days a week 1.5 hours
- Rate ranges from $25-$35 per hour
- Experience working with students with autism and speech/language impairments
- Background supporting upper elementary students in reading, writing, and math
- Strong knowledge of reading fluency, comprehension, and spelling development
- Experience supporting writing skills, including sentence structure, organization, and grammar
- Familiarity with foundational math concepts, including multiplication, division, and word problems
- Experience incorporating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), communication, and self-advocacy skills into instruction
- Understanding of gestalt language processing and use of multi-modal teaching strategies
- Skilled in using visual supports, video-based learning, and interactive instruction
- Patient, engaging, and energetic ("bubbly") personality
- Ability to maintain attention through structured, engaging, and varied activities
- Provide individualized instruction in reading fluency and comprehension using guided reading, repetition, and visual supports
- Support comprehension skills, including summarizing, answering questions, and identifying key ideas
- Reinforce spelling and vocabulary retention using multi-sensory and contextual learning strategies
- Support writing development, including sentence formation, organization, grammar, and typing skills
- Deliver math instruction focused on multiplication, division, and word problem-solving strategies
- Incorporate SEL, communication, and self-advocacy skills into daily instruction
- Use multi-modal strategies (visuals, videos, songs, interactive activities) to support engagement and learning
- Implement structured sessions with clear routines, frequent breaks, and varied activities to maintain focus
- Prioritize homework completion, followed by enrichment and review activities
- Incorporate student interests (e.g., vehicles, cartoons, animals, music, iPad activities) to increase motivation and participation
- Maintain a supportive, engaging, and structured learning environment
- Communicate progress with caregivers and adjust instruction as needed
