Details:
- In-Person Tutoring in Downey, CA
- Schedule: 10 hours a month; 2x a week for 1hr15mins
- $25-$35 per hour
- Teaching credential required
- Experience supporting high school students with Cerebral Palsy and IEP accommodations
- Strong academic background in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, English Language Arts, and writing instruction
- Skilled in reading fluency, reading comprehension, and writing organization strategies
- Familiar with attention-support strategies, pacing techniques, and reading tracking interventions
- Patient, structured, and adaptable while maintaining academically focused sessions
- Comfortable supporting students receiving OT/PT services and mindful of accessibility needs
- Strong ability to break down complex algebraic concepts into manageable, step-by-step instruction
- Experienced in creating individualized learning plans and measurable academic goals
- Able to incorporate student interests to maintain engagement and motivation
- Provide individualized instruction in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, reading fluency and comprehension, and writing development
- Strengthen writing skills including grammar, organization, sentence structure, clarity, and written expression
- Support reading fluency through pacing strategies, comprehension activities, and visual tracking techniques
- Reinforce algebraic problem-solving, foundational math concepts, and higher-level mathematical reasoning
- Implement strategies to improve focus, sustained attention, and task completion during sessions
- Create structured yet flexible lessons tailored to the student's academic strengths and needs
- Conduct an initial academic assessment to guide instructional planning and monitor progress
- Maintain a supportive, accessible, and encouraging learning environment
- Incorporate interests such as music production, baseball, and video games into instruction when appropriate
- Collaborate with the family and adapt instruction based on ongoing progress and goals
