Details
- In-Person Tutoring in Long Beach, CA
- Schedule: 6 hours a month, 1x a week for 1hr 30mins
- Pay rate ranges from $25-$35 per hour
- Active teaching credential highly preferred
- Experience working with students with Autism, IEPs, and early elementary learners
- Strong background in reading intervention and foundational literacy instruction
- Skilled in teaching letter recognition, phonics, decoding, guided reading, and reading comprehension
- Experience providing foundational math instruction for students performing below grade level
- Familiar with positive behavior intervention strategies, redirection, and classroom behavior management
- Comfortable supporting students who require frequent prompting, clear boundaries, and consistent reinforcement
- Patient, engaging, and able to maintain a structured yet encouraging learning environment
- Experience incorporating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies into academic instruction
- Skilled at developing individualized lesson plans aligned with student needs and progress
- Able to use hands-on, multisensory instructional strategies to maximize engagement and learning
- Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy skills, with a primary emphasis on reading development
- Teach letter recognition, phonics, decoding, guided reading, vocabulary, and reading independence using explicit, systematic instruction
- Reinforce foundational math concepts through engaging, hands-on learning activities
- Implement Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies to strengthen emotional regulation, self-regulation, and classroom readiness
- Utilize positive behavior supports, clear expectations, and consistent redirection to encourage participation and maintain engagement
- Establish structured routines and appropriate boundaries while reinforcing positive behaviors and personal space awareness
- Adapt instruction using multisensory, interactive teaching methods that align with the student's learning profile
- Incorporate the student's interests, including drawing, kinetic sand, slime, iPad activities, and calendars, to increase motivation and participation
- Monitor academic and behavioral progress and adjust instruction to meet evolving needs
- Collaborate with the family to provide consistent support and reinforce learning strategies between sessions
- Create a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment that promotes confidence, independence, and long-term academic growth
