- In-Person Tutoring in Hemet, CA
- Schedule: 25 hours per month
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience
Math Focus:
- Provide targeted instruction in division, fractions, and order of operations.
- Break down multi-step problems using explicit modeling and guided practice.
- Use manipulatives, number lines, and visual aids to support conceptual understanding.
- Apply real-life examples to make abstract concepts more meaningful.
- Conduct frequent comprehension checks and reinforce progress with praise and incentives.
- Support reading comprehension skills including main idea, inferences, text structure, and detail recall.
- Use guided reading, repetition, graphic organizers, and visual supports.
- Assist with writing tasks by teaching sentence structure, grammar, idea organization, and topic maintenance.
- Incorporate writing templates, sentence frames, brainstorming tools, and modeling techniques to guide writing development.
- Implement proactive strategies including visual schedules, first/then prompts, structured breaks, and reinforcement systems.
- Recognize early signs of frustration and respond with calm, supportive redirection.
- Promote emotional regulation through consistent routines and positive engagement strategies.
- Apply de-escalation techniques and behavior intervention best practices as needed.
- Incorporate student interests such as acting, drawing, and storytelling into academic tasks to boost motivation and connection.
- Use creative assignments that tap into imagination while reinforcing academic goals.
- Experience tutoring or teaching students with Autism and speech/language impairments.
- Background in behavior intervention and emotional regulation strategies required.
- Strong instructional skills in upper-elementary math and ELA.
- Familiarity with visual supports, manipulatives, graphic organizers, and structured teaching strategies.
- Patient, creative, and consistent teaching style with the ability to maintain a calm and supportive presence.
- Background in special education, psychology, or related field preferred.
