What are the responsibilities and job description for the In person Tutor position at Tutor Doctor of Valley Stream-Elmont?
Tutor Doctor is seeking passionate, dedicated, and qualified tutors to provide one-on-one in-person tutoring services to students in the Valley Stream and Elmont areas. As part of our growing team, you will help students achieve academic success in various subjects, from elementary through high school levels, and create a positive, customized learning experience. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one in-person tutoring sessions at the student's home or other designated locations in the Valley Stream / Elmont area.
- Create customized lesson plans based on each student's unique learning needs and goals.
- Assist students in a variety of subjects, including but not limited to Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and Test Prep (SAT, ACT, etc.).
- Help students build confidence, improve academic performance, and develop effective study habits.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and successes to both students and parents on a regular basis.
- Adapt to different learning styles and create an engaging and motivating environment for each student.
- Foster a positive, supportive, and respectful learning relationship.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or currently enrolled in a degree program) in Education, a specific subject area, or related field.
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to tailor lessons to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Reliable transportation for travel within the Valley Stream / Elmont area.
- Passion for teaching and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
- A patient, empathetic, and motivating attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Requirements:
- Background check and references will be required.
- Must have reliable transportation for in-person sessions.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
