RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Educational Services Director, will tutor high school and/or middle school students in AVID elective classes, evaluate student binders, and coordinate student assignments with teacher. Requires knowledge of the writing process, note taking and study strategies; algebra; geometry; the sciences; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; oral and written communication skills; and interpersonal relations skills of tact, patience and courtesy. Ability to tutor students in small groups, understand and follow oral and written directions, communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents; work confidentially and with discretion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate enrolled in a college or university who has the required rapport to motivate students. Demonstrated ability to be organized. Tutor training will be provided before placement in the AVID classroom
