CNC LATHE SET-UP MACHINIST — Turret Lathe Specialists, Inc.
Location: Anaheim, CA
Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift
Compensation: $24–$30/hr DOE Bonus Opportunity
Turret Lathe Specialists, Inc. (est. 1973) is a precision CNC machine shop serving aerospace, cryogenic, and industrial customers across the U.S. We are looking for a hands-on CNC Lathe Set-Up Machinist who takes pride in craftsmanship, cares about accuracy, and thrives in a team-oriented job shop environment.
This is not just an operator role — you will set up machines, troubleshoot, inspect work, and own quality from start to finish.
What You’ll Do
- Set up, prove out, and operate CNC lathes
- Load programs, make offsets, tool changes, and interpret G-code
- Run short-run and repeat production parts to tight tolerances
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and shop routers
- Perform in-process and final inspection using micrometers, indicators, pin gauges, and other metrology tools
- Adjust feeds, speeds, and tooling to improve cycle time and part quality
- Work proactively with programmers and QC to resolve machining issues
- Maintain machines, tooling, and a clean, organized work area
- Accurately log hours, materials, and move tickets in JobBoss (training provided)
- Collaborate and communicate respectfully with a small shop team
- Support a safe, high-quality work culture
Required Experience & Skills
- 5 years CNC Lathe machining, including setups
- Fanuc control experience
- Ability to edit programs and diagnose code/tooling issues
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
- Familiar with machining stainless steels, aluminum, and similar materials
- Able to use and interpret precision measuring instruments
- Solid understanding of G & M codes
- Reliable attendance and professional communication
- US work authorization
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience with Femco CNC lathes or mills
- Manual machining
- Mastercam or GibbsCAM familiarity
- Basic 3D model/print review (SolidWorks/Fusion360)
- Experience in aerospace, cryogenic, or high-precision industries
Schedule
- Mon–Thu: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Fri: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Overtime & occasional Saturday availability
