Position Summary


The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and designing complex engineering projects in collaboration with designers and engineers, other design consultants, and clients. This role plays a key part in developing project drawings and specifications, performing engineering calculations, providing quality assurance, delivering technically sound and code-compliant design solutions and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget. The Project Manager shall be responsible for managing and executing multiple design projects simultaneously. This role requires direct involvement throughout the design process, from project kickoff through project close-out, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and schedule requirements, while delivering exceptional client experiences. Project Management responsibilities include field surveys, power system studies, power distribution, lighting, renewable energy and fire alarm systems, with a general understanding of related disciplines such as mechanical (HVAC), plumbing, technology, structural, civil and architectural through collaboration with internal and external project teams.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Manage the discipline specific scope and project execution for assigned projects.

  • Ensure assigned projects are aligned with scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Oversee the discipline specific design and assign tasks to Designers and Senior Designers.

  • Communicate with clients and external stakeholders as the primary point of contact for assigned projects for the associated discipline, including attending meetings and handling email correspondence.

  • Develop and coordinate design solutions from concept through project close-out.

  • Collaborate directly with engineers, designers, and other design consultants to interpret project goals and execute project requirements.

  • Translate project requirements into coordinated drawing packages and technical documents using AutoCAD, Revit, and related tools.

  • Prepare written specifications to accompany project design drawings.

  • Participate in internal and client-facing design meetings. Contribute design insight and present solutions to complex problems.

  • Review proposals and ensure project adherence. Ensure alignment with scope, schedule, and project budget.

  • Prepare and coordinate project deliverables, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.

  • Conduct site visits to evaluate field conditions, verify design assumptions, ensure design adherence, and support project progress.
  • Perform quality assurance/quality control (QAQC) of design deliverables. Adhere to QAQC standards to ensure design integrity and high quality.

  • Review and comment on professional cost estimator construction estimates at various design milestones.

  • Support proposal development by advising on design approach, resource needs, and level of effort.

  • Coordinate with external consultants and vendors to integrate specifications, products, and systems into the overall design.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to design standards, templates, and best practices.
  • Mentor and support staff to foster technical growth and ensure consistency in design standards.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years design and/or engineering project management in electrical building design or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit BIM software, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Experience in managing teams of designers and drafters.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead design and engineering projects and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of applicable codes, design standards, and construction practices.

Items to carry include, but are not limited to tools, flashlights, ladders, computer tablets, and construction documents.


Work at Heights

Most work will be performed at ground level. Some project assignments will require observation of pre- and post-construction conditions on rooftops. Access to rooftops will be gained via built-in roof ladders, or ladders propped up and secured to the building from the outside.


Vision

Ability to read content on both paper and computer monitors. Each employee must have adequate vision for situational awareness to stay safe during all work-related activities.

Estimated Frequency: Over 75%

The position requires input into a computer via design software while sitting at a workstation. Accommodation for a stand-up workstation is available on request.

Mobility and dexterity to effectively perform the job position duties are necessary. This includes the ability to move, bend, lift, and carry materials or equipment as needed, as well as the capacity to use hands and fingers with agility for tasks such as operating computers, navigating construction sites, carrying ladders, and using hand tools. Employees should be able to perform physical tasks with ease and precision, ensuring workplace safety and efficiency. Any limitations that may affect mobility or dexterity needs to be communicated to management to assess reasonable accommodation.

An employee will encounter working conditions synonymous with an Engineering firm that offers a hybrid work model. The goal is to balance in-office and work-from-home flexibility while supporting colleague connections, and collaboration.

Branch Office

Assigned workspace in the branch office.


Home / Remote Office

Employees are required to create a safe home office workspace to conduct their work in an efficient, digitally accessible, and professional manner.


Project Site

Project site observations and familiarization are required.


Vehicular Travel

Must have the means to commute to your assigned branch office and to project sites within the County where your branch office is located. Occasional travel outside of the branch office County may be required.


Business Hours

Monday through Thursday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to Noon (varies by branch office).


Work Hours

Between 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $140,000
