Web Applications Contractor
Location: Hybrid – Atlanta, GA 30303
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $60/hour
Job Description:
The Web Applications Contractor will support the City of Atlanta’s digital transformation initiatives by delivering project-based web application solutions from concept through deployment. This role is responsible for end-to-end technical delivery of enterprise web applications, ensuring high availability, security, scalability, and alignment with business objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience across full-stack development, cloud environments, and data integration, with the ability to independently manage technical workstreams and deliver complete SDLC execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Web Application Development & Modernization
- Design, build, enhance, and modernize enterprise web applications and portals
- Perform technical requirements analysis and develop solution design documentation
- Develop secure, scalable applications using Angular, NodeJS, .NET, and C#
- Implement or enhance CMS platforms and integrate backend systems and APIs
- Deploy applications to Azure cloud environments and support production readiness
Cloud Implementation & Optimization
- Design Azure architecture including Web Apps, Cosmos DB, SQL, Application Insights, and Log Analytics
- Implement and manage databases including MSSQL, Oracle, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and MySQL
- Optimize performance, scalability, and system reliability
- Configure monitoring, logging, and disaster recovery strategies
Data & Analytics Integration
- Integrate data platforms using Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, and Databricks
- Implement event streaming solutions (Event Hub, IoT Hub, Stream Analytics)
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI, Tableau, D3.js, Highcharts, or Chart.js
- Build secure data pipelines and scalable reporting frameworks
Application Support & Stabilization
- Conduct code reviews and provide refactoring recommendations
- Perform performance tuning and resolve production issues
- Enhance application monitoring and implement security improvements
- Improve system reliability and reduce production incidents
Project Execution & Delivery
- Independently manage assigned technical workstreams
- Execute full SDLC lifecycle including analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and documentation
- Collaborate with stakeholders to validate requirements and acceptance criteria
- Provide technical recommendations aligned with long-term architecture standards
- Ensure compliance with security, operational, and governance requirements
- Maintain structured documentation for systems, configurations, and processes
Required Skills:
- Strong experience with Angular, NodeJS, .NET, and C#
- Proficiency in JavaScript, Java, Python, PHP, HTML, and CSS
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices
- Knowledge of databases including MSSQL, Oracle, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and MySQL
- Experience working within Microsoft Azure ecosystem (Web Apps, Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks, Application Insights, Log Analytics)
- Familiarity with event streaming and data integration tools
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP)
- Ability to work across Windows, Linux, and Unix environments
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on web application development experience
- Proven experience delivering enterprise web solutions in cloud environments
- Experience working within structured SDLC and Agile frameworks
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
