Job Description:
The City of Atlanta is seeking a part-time Data Governance Analyst to support the Data Governance & Compliance Manager in establishing a citywide data governance framework and leading the implementation of the What Works Cities (WWC) Certification Program powered by Bloomberg Philanthropies. This role is integral to advancing the City's goals of data-driven governance, accountability, and performance improvement. The ideal candidate will have experience in government (city, county, or public school systems), strong project coordination skills, and familiarity with data governance and compliance programs.
This is a part-time contract role for 25 hours per week, requiring 4 days onsite and 1 remote day (Fridays) each week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of the WWC Certification Program (Silver, Gold, Platinum) in collaboration with the Data Governance & Compliance Manager
- Complete all stages of the WWC self-assessment, including documentation, dashboard updates, and milestone tracking
- Coordinate with WWC technical assistance providers and Results for America support staff
- Develop and maintain a separate internal dashboard to monitor program progress, tasks, and deliverables
- Upload documentation and evidence into the WWC Assessment and Results for America Dashboard
- Assist with the creation and execution of a citywide data governance framework and policy manual
- Draft regular updates, program briefs, and reports on progress toward certification
- Organize and manage training programs and communication strategies to promote data-driven practices
- Prepare documentation for audits and certification check-ins
- Support ongoing governance training and incident response planning
Required Skills:
- Strong program and project management skills
- Experience with documentation, data dashboards, and progress tracking tools
- Familiarity with data governance best practices and public sector data policies
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and/or project management tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with city, county, or public sector entities
- Knowledge of the What Works Cities Certification framework and associated metrics
- Experience developing training materials and change management strategies
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Experience:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in data governance, compliance, project coordination, or public sector program management
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered
