The Resort Horticulturist is a key player on our passionate golf team, helping create the breathtaking landscapes that make every visit unforgettable. From lush fairways to beautifully maintained Nation-owned grounds, this role brings our outdoor spaces to life.

Resort Horticulturists lend their creativity and expertise to landscaping design, development, and maintenance—ensuring every garden, green, and gathering space looks its absolute best. What does a Resort Horticulturist do?

• Select, propagate, and grow plant materials for ornamental use on and around the golf course, and the interior/exterior of all Resort properties.
• Assist in developing and implementing flower bed designs and cultivate shrubs and flowers for the professional appearance of the golf courses and interior and exterior landscapes.
• Routinely install and maintain low-pressure irrigation systems for proper landscaping procedures.
• Provide direction to groundskeepers on the routine maintenance of ornamental plantings and ensure the appropriate and safe application of pesticides and fertilizers when needed.
• Implement and develop cost-control approaches associated with the ordering and care of ornamental plant material.
• Establish, maintain, and document appropriate schedules for cleaning, pruning, and fertilizing all potted plant materials and interior and exterior gardens.

Work Experience

To be successful as a Resort Horticulturist, you'll need:

• An associate’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Design or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in horticulture, commercial landscape design or closely related field.
• Knowledge of the characteristics, growth habit and proper cultivation of a wide selection of flowering bulbs and annual, biennial, and perennial plant materials including both herbaceous and woody plants.
• Knowledge of the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, soil conditioners and pest control methods and materials.
• Certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator is a plus.
• Must be available to maintain flexible schedule.
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must possess the ability to diagnose and adhere to safety standards.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Occasionally requires working at heights up to 20 feet.
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 61 - 70 pounds.
