Title: Executive Director

Reports to: Board of Directors

Status: Full-time, exempt

Job Summary

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for ensuring that the mission of Turning Point of South Arkansas is realized by implementing policy directives set by the Board of Directors. The ED assumes the overall leadership role in day-to-day operations of the agency, guiding all administrative, advocacy, programming, community relations, marketing, and public relations.

General Duties

A. Board Support and Administration

· Provides Board with adequate and timely information ensuring information flow and decision oversight;

· Serves as staff liaison to the Board and its Committees;

· Administers contracts as approved by the Board;

· Communicates Board vision with staff through effective program and operation implementation;

· Attends and staffs all fundraising events, as directed by the Board;

· Prepares Board meeting agenda and distribute information packets to all members prior to Board Meetings; and

· Attends all Board meetings and present agency update for the Board. Assists all Executive Committee members as needed.

B. Human Resources

· Responsible for recruitment, hiring, staffing, supervision, and evaluation of staff;

· Implement promotion, disciplinary action, and exit interviews with all staff;

· Acts as liaison between Board Personnel Committee Chair and staff;

· Responsible for mediation of staff disputes and/or grievances;

· Effectively manages agency personnel according to authorized policies and procedures. Works with Personnel Committee when needed to ensure agency conforms to current laws and regulations.

· Staff leadership—serves as a role model for staff in setting standards for professional work ethics and stakeholder relations (board, victims, colleagues, and public)

· Facilitates quarterly staff meetings

C. Program Operations and Environment

· Establishes an environment and agency culture that promotes the self-determination and self-worth of program guests and staff

· Program development, design, and evaluation

· Acts as liaison between Board Shelter Committee Chair and staff.

· Engages in active participation in the community and with community organizations.

· Equipping and ensuring maintenance of an environment that ensures the safety and security of shelter residents and staff.

· Provides counsel to all staff as needed to ensure seamless service delivery to victims.

· Conducts appropriate investigation and provides oversight for guest exit appeals and provides mediation/determination for guest disputes and/or grievances.

· Determines feasibility of shelter stay extension requests

· Development and maintenance of community relationships and authorization of all Memoranda of Understanding for program compliance.

· Ensures compliance for Program and Fiscal Standards as determined by funders.

· Provides victim advocacy and “on-call” support for staff, clients, and shelter 24/7, as required.

D. Fiscal Management

· Oversees resource development planning and implementation, including identifying resource requirements, research funding sources, establish strategies to approach funding sources, submitting proposals, and administrative resource development records and documentation;

· Event tracking for major fundraisers;

· Assists Board and Board Finance Committee Chair with development of Annual Budget;

· Develops new program budgets;

· Authorizes purchases, vouchers, and payments within parameters set by the Board; and

· Stands as Acting Authorized Official to sign tax documents, invoices and reports to funders, and purchase orders within parameters set by the Board on behalf of Turning Point of South Arkansas and the board.

· Approve accounts payable invoices before submit to accountant. Check any balances brought forward to verify if it has been paid. Code payroll and accounts payable to appropriate grant allocation. Be able to access bank balance at all times.

· Maintain records of all donors and ensure timely “Thank You” letters with 501©3 tax disclaimer are mailed out.

· Responsible for researching and writing all grants

E. Other

· The Executive Director is responsible for other tasks as directed by the BOD.

Minimum Qualifications: The Executive Director will have the following minimum qualifications:

· Two years college or equivalent and either volunteer or paid experience in a social service organization

· Two years supervisory or management experience.

· Highly preferred computer literacy including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher; Adobe Acrobat.

· Fundraising and/or grant writing experience

· Must be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised; Proven leadership skills

· Certified Victim’s Advocate, highly preferred

· Must pass criminal background check, child registry check, and drug screening

Hours: The Executive Director position is full-time exempt and salaried, and Director will work approximately 40 hours a week with hours that often varies from the regular Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm work day. The Administration office is open Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Fridays. The ED is expected to participate in fundraising, community outreach activities, United Way of Union County activities, etc. that are not within the Monday-Friday schedule.

Training: All Turning Point of South Arkansas employees mustcomplete fifteen hours of core domestic violence training conducted by the Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ACADV) and four hours of ACADV ethics training within the first 60 days of employment. Annually, after the first year of employment, employees are required to attend 20 hours of continuing education that will assist in effectively performing their duties.

Working Conditions:

· Responsible for implementing an On call, 24/7 environment to provide direct victim services and assistance to staff members when needed.

· Occasional out-of-town travel for presentations, training, meetings, or conferences.

· Use of personal vehicle required.

· Public Speaking engagements as a representative of the organization.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
