Tier 2 IT Technician – MSP
Job Type: Full-time
Location: In person at our Tempe office (not remote or hybrid)
Pay: $60,000–$75,000 per year
About the Role
Turning Point IT is a managed service provider in Tempe supporting businesses across the Phoenix area. We're hiring a Tier 2 technician to take escalated tickets from our Tier 1 team, own them to resolution, and run client projects such as Microsoft 365 migrations, server replacements and network upgrades.
This is not an entry-level help desk role. You'll be expected to work problems on your own, document what you did, and explain it clearly to clients and the team.
What You'll Do
- Take escalations from Tier 1 and own them to resolution, finding the root cause and not just the symptom
- Troubleshoot networks: VLANs, ACLs/firewall rules, routing, DHCP/DNS, site-to-site and client VPN
- Administer Microsoft 365: Exchange Online, Entra ID, Intune, Conditional Access, MFA, SharePoint and Teams
- Plan and execute migrations: mailbox and tenant (including Google Workspace to M365), on-prem AD to Entra, Windows Server
- Deploy and configure firewalls, switches and wireless
- Support endpoint security and backup platforms
- Work onsite at client locations around the Valley as needed
- Document your work in our ticketing system and knowledge base
What You Need
- 3 years of hands-on IT experience, with at least some at Tier 2 level or above (MSP experience strongly preferred)
- At least one migration you personally owned: tenant, mailbox, AD/Entra, server or firewall
- Solid networking fundamentals; you can explain how you'd track down a VLAN or firewall rule problem
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration
- Clear written and verbal communication with non-technical clients
- Reliable transportation for client site visits
Nice to Have
- UniFi experience
- PowerShell scripting
- Microsoft, CompTIA or Cisco certifications
- EDR/MDR tools (SentinelOne, Huntress or similar)
