Salary: $54,000/yr. Exempt Position

Schedule: M-F 9am-5pm Weekend On-Call

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Assistant Program Manager, if applicable, and Direct Support staff

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Coordinator of Program Services

COMPENSATION CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, salaried position

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the safety and Human Rights of all individuals residing in the residential group home
  • Exercises routine decision making regarding programmatic matters, Refers complex situations to the Coordinator of Program Services for consultation
  • Interviews, hires, orients, and trains employees. Provides on-going monitoring, coaching and guidance regarding employee performance. Writes reviews and conducts performance review and developmental goal meetings. Addresses employee performance and development needs and/or other employee matters, completing disciplinary documentation, as necessary. Consults with the Coordinator of Program Services, the Director of Program Services and the Director of Human Resources
  • Upholds the values and culture of PBS while ensuring that PBS interventions are implemented with integrity.
  • Directs and communicates Turning Point, Inc.’s organizational and program mission, goals and objectives to staff
  • Delegates programmatic responsibilities to Lead and/or Direct Support Staff
  • Trains and role models for staff the required behavior plans and interventions
  • Develops, implements, and monitors all household routines and procedures, including ensuring that all standards of hygiene and household cleanliness are maintained
  • Manages financial matters directly related to individual’s funds and household budget
  • Conducts menu planning with input from the individuals, following any physician ordered diets, as well as keeping in mind good nutritional choices. Ensures adequate food supply is in the program at all times by completing or assigning grocery shopping to a staff person and by checking that the menus and dietary plans are being followed
  • Acts as a liaison with the individuals families/guardians, DDS/MRC/Forensic Service Coordinators/Case Managers and day program staff. Ensures the monthly communication forms are completed and mailed to the families/guardians
  • Facilitates monthly staff meetings with program staff
  • Ensures all individuals are taken to medical, dental, psychiatric, and other appointments as indicated and that appropriate follow-ups are completed
  • Maintains and updates program information required by DDS/MRC licensing and/or Survey and Certification Standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Drives company vehicle to transport individuals to various locations.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license at all times
  • Obey all traffic laws and regulations
  • Will not engage in any form of distracted driving (texting, phone use without hands free technology, etc.)
  • Will not operate vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that may impair your ability to drive safely

Qualifications

  • BS/BA and/or equivalent experience, preferably prior management and/or supervisory experience in a residential setting
  • Thorough working knowledge of the Department of Developmental Services’ (DDS), and/or Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) regulations and the ISP process
  • Pass a CORI, Driving Record, DPPC Abuser Registry, and Fingerprinting checks prior to beginning of work and continued employment, as required by the position responsibilities and company policies
  • A minimum of (5 ) five years’ direct support residential experience and/or closely related experience working with intellectually and developmentally disabled individuals and/or individuals with traumatic brain injury, including experience and/or demonstration of prior leadership and supervisory experience
  • Prior experience with behavior plans for developmentally disabled individuals and/or individuals with traumatic brain injury
  • Possession of current First Aid, CPR, and MAP certifications, and any other certification required for the specific position prior to beginning work and continuing of employment. Ability to obtain a Positive Behavioral Supports certification and maintain PABC certification as required
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and leadership skills are required
  • Solid math and computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook is a plus
  • Ability to engage positively with individuals, their families/guardians, providers, other staff, and management, and role model this behavior for other program staff
  • Able to display patience, as well as good comprehension and problem solving skills
  • Work in a positive fashion as member of program management staff
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook and/or Google email

Physical Requirements

Position will require frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, as well as occasional driving to transport individuals to their day programs, medical appointments, and community activities. Additionally, occasional lifting will be required depending on individuals supported.

̶ Standing/Walking: 50% or more

̶ Lifting: 30% or more of individuals (up to 100 lbs.)

̶ Twist/Turn/Squat: 30% or more

̶ Forearm Rotation: 20% or more

̶ Transportation: 2-3 hours per day (# of total hours vary depending on shifts)
