Mental Health Therapist

OVERVIEW

The ideal candidate is passionate about mental health, enjoys working creatively with adult and geriatric clients, and can build strong therapeutic relationships in both individual and group settings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual Therapy Services

• Conduct individual counseling sessions for clients experiencing emotional, behavioral, relational, or mental health concerns.
• Complete biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in a timely manner.
• Develop individualized treatment goals and evidence-based interventions tailored to client needs.
• Maintain ethical and professional standards in accordance with licensing board regulations and TPCS policies.
• Collaborate with families, schools, case managers, physicians, and other providers as needed.
• Maintain assigned caseload expectations and scheduling requirements.
• Complete all required clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, and discharge paperwork, within 48 hours of service delivery in accordance with TPCS policies and compliance standards.

Music & Arts Group Therapy Services

• Facilitate structured manualized therapeutic groups using music, visual arts, creative expression, movement, storytelling, theater activities, and related expressive interventions.
• Create engaging and age-appropriate group activities that encourage emotional expression, confidence, coping skills, teamwork, and social connection.
• Assist with planning and implementing TPCS Music & Arts Therapy programming and special events.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive therapeutic environment during all group activities.
• Monitor client participation, progress, and behavioral concerns within group settings.
• Collaborate with TPCS leadership regarding curriculum ideas, group structure, and therapeutic programming.
• Complete all required clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, and discharge paperwork, within 24–48 hours of service delivery in accordance with TPCS policies and compliance standards.

EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrated expertise working with children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, or individuals with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder or developmental disabilities.
• Experience with crisis intervention techniques and managing acute mental health crises.
• Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for diagnostic purposes.
• Prior experience providing services via telehealth platforms is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology related to behavioral health and mental health counseling practices.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality.
