Role Description The Legal Administrative Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Kansas City, MO, supporting attorneys and legal staff in daily litigation and pre-suit activities. Responsibilities include preparing, formatting, and organizing legal documents and correspondence; maintaining case files, calendars, and deadlines; and coordinating court filings and service of documents. The role involves managing phone calls and emails, scheduling meetings, hearings, and travel, and assisting with client communication and
intake.The Legal Administrative Assistant will also support billing and time entry processes, maintain internal databases, and help ensure that office operations run efficiently and in compliance with firm procedures. This position requires consistent on-site collaboration with the team and a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of law and litigation processes, with familiarity in court procedures or legal terminology.
- Legal document preparation skills, including drafting, formatting, proofreading, and organizing pleadings and correspondence.
- Strong communication abilities, including clear written and verbal communication with attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
- Administrative assistance experience, including scheduling, file management, data entry, and support of office operations.
- Organization skills, including attention to detail, time management, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, PDF tools) and, ideally, legal practice management or e-filing systems.
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
