Job Description
Purpose: The Quiz Bowl Sponsor promotes scholarship and sportsmanship among students. The Sponsor supervises Quiz Bowl Activities and works closely with other staff and administration of the District.

Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college/university.
- Current Kansas State Teaching Certificate on file in the central office.
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the central office (after employment offer is made).
- Ability to work well and motivate bright senior high students.
- Ability to obtain and maintain current first aid, CPR and AED certifications.
- Ability to coordinate and supervise Quiz Bowl activities at the District, league, and state level.
- Ability to promote scholarship and sportsmanship.
- Ability to ensure all Quiz Bowl activities conform to KSHSAA guidelines.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district, students, parents, and community.
- Ability to be flexible in dealing with change and student reactions and responses.
- Ability to work to implement the vision and mission of the District.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions
- Requires extensive travel, especially on Saturdays.
- Ability to work well with bright students, their schedules, and their temperaments.
- Ability to organize and work in noisy, fairly chaotic environments, with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to submit KSHSAA registration, fees, and entry cards for general participation's, and regional and state tournaments by required deadlines.
- Ability to prepare and submit required KSHSAA questions for tournaments by required deadlines.
- Ability to supervise current team members' participation in Club Fair during seminar at the high school to find and enroll new team members each year.
- Ability to ensure all members meet eligibility rules.
- Ability to schedule practices before and after school hours and during Seminar time. Teach students tournament rules and strategies during practices.
- Ability to obtain questions for the practice times.
- Ability to contact other coaches to gain invitations to tournaments. Register teams for tournaments and see that fees are paid.
- Ability to fill out forms and submit in a timely fashion to obtain transportation from the high school to tournament sights.
- Ability to host invitational tournament. Set a date to avoid conflicts with school calendar. Send out invitations to other schools for the tournament. Develop or pay for questions for a tournament. Find judges, moderators, timekeepers, and score-keepers for a tournament. Plan out and schedule rooms for the tournament. Plan and provide refreshments for tournament participants, coaches, and judges, moderators, timekeepers, and score-keepers, and helpers for the tournament. Obtain medals and trophy for tournament. Supervise and run the tournament.
- Ability to obtain advance approval from the Principal for all activities and expenditures according to the current budget.
- Ability to observe and follow all school district policies during all activities.
- Observe and follow all District health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
- Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other Administrative Staff.
