Our premier Reserve, Vermejo, is currently seeking a Food & Beverage Manager to lead and inspire our Food & Beverage team in delivering world-class service and memorable guest experiences.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Vermejo Executive Chef, the Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating all restaurant and bar operations at Vermejo. This role requires exceptional organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize in a dynamic environment.
You will also be responsible for:
Strategic Leadership
- Supervise, hire, train, evaluate, and mentor restaurant and bar staff while ensuring accountability with care and professionalism.
- Foster a team culture centered on respect, collaboration, and excellence in guest service.
- Model and instill Ted Turner Reserves’ core hospitality values — authenticity, storytelling, stewardship, and warmth — across the team.
- Evaluate staff readiness and ensure compliance with all service and operational standards.
- Build strong partnerships between the Food & Beverage department and all other departments.
Training & Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for new hires, ensuring all team members are fully prepared before assuming independent responsibilities.
- Provide continuous development opportunities for supervisors and team members to support long-term growth and engagement.
Operations & Scheduling
- Oversee daily restaurant and bar operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain the highest level of guest service with attention to detail, professionalism, and warmth.
- Support staff in daily service tasks, including direct guest interaction and table service as needed.
- Create and manage schedules for front-of-house F&B staff.
- Manage timekeeping and attendance in personnel management software on a weekly basis.
- Assist in developing and adhering to department budgets, ensuring financial goals are met.
- Coordinate and execute off-premise events as needed.
- Maintain proficiency in Silverware POS and uphold inventory and cash-handling standards.
- Provide bartending support during the off-season as needed.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits; banquet and catering experience is a plus.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef and General Manager.
Deployment & Service Excellence
- Lead by example as a hands-on department head, inspiring confidence and professionalism across the team.
- Deliver guest experiences that embody Turner’s philosophy of “friend, not butler” service — refined yet approachable, elevated yet personal.
- Uphold the highest operational standards in guest engagement, service quality, and presentation.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in biweekly meetings with the General Manager and Executive Chef.
- Attend weekly Banquet Event Order meetings and biweekly department head meetings.
- Manage weekly invoices and monthly expense reports.
- Continuously refine standard operating procedures, training materials, and operational systems to improve efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Ensure all tasks, reports, and assignments are completed accurately and on time.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- Proven experience leading a high-performing food and beverage team.
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and motivate remote teams.
- Expertise in logistics, scheduling, and operational planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging luxury-level guests.
- Ability to thrive in a remote and dynamic environment.
- Deep understanding of authentic, purpose-driven hospitality.
Preferred:
- 3 years of experience in hospitality management, operations, or experiential travel.
- Background in culinary or luxury resort management.
- Familiarity with Ted Turner Reserves properties and conservation mission.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Hospitality Management, Operations, or a related field.

ACCOMMODATIONS
This position will require you to live on-site at Vermejo, located 40 miles west of Raton, NM. Company-provided housing is assigned based on availability and at the discretion of the Company. Occupancy is contingent upon signing a Company Housing Agreement.

On a regular basis, you can expect to:
- Stand; sit; walk; move hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; stoop, bend, kneel, climb or balance, crouch, or crawl; life, shake, pour, carry, push, and talk or hear.
- Lift and/or carry trays and other items up to 50 pounds.
- Perform physical labor for extended periods of time.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
You will regularly be required to work long hours, and you may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. You may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. You will be occasionally exposed to vibration.
You will occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
