Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Body Shop Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in automotive repair and service, with the ability to accurately assess vehicle damages and provide detailed estimates for repairs. This role requires excellent customer service skills, as you will be interacting with clients to explain repair processes and costs. A successful Body Shop Estimator will also have experience in upselling services and maintaining a positive relationship with customers.
Duties
- Evaluate damaged vehicles and determine the necessary repairs required for restoration.
- Prepare detailed estimates for auto body repairs, including parts, labor, and paint costs.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair options, timelines, and costs.
- Collaborate with technicians to ensure accurate assessments of mechanical issues.
- Utilize automotive diagnostics to identify underlying problems that may not be immediately visible.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, repair techniques, and emerging technologies.
- Handle cash transactions and ensure accurate billing for services rendered.
- Upsell additional services based on customer needs and vehicle condition.
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout the repair process to enhance customer satisfaction.
Experience
Candidates should have a strong background in automotive service management or related fields. Preferred qualifications include:
- Dealership experience is highly desirable.
- Experience in auto estimating and service writing.
- Mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in automotive repair, including transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, alignment, suspension, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, and air brake systems.
- Previous roles as a service technician or in automobile sales are beneficial.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
