What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook position at Turnberry Ocean Club Residences?
Scope of Position
The primary function of the Cook position is to prepare high quality food for the outlets / restaurant. The Cook position is responsible for timely and accurate preparation of made to order food and accurate preparation and plating of restaurant food items based on company specifications and function contracts. The Cook should have a complete knowledge of all performance objectives as well as sound technical skills.
We are looking for a professional line cook to prepare food to chef’s specifications and to set up stations for menu. Line cook duties will consist of assisting the executive and sous chef with their daily tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction goals.
Responsibilities
Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
Clean up station and take care of leftover food
Stock inventory appropriately
Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Skills
Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
Familiar with industry’s best practices
Education:
High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
Restaurant experience: 3 years (Preferred)
Hospitality experience - 3 years (Preferred)
Position Requirements
Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment.
Previous food and beverage experience in a luxury hotel, club, or condominium environment is a plus.
Able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, ever-changing environment.
Food Safety certification.
Able to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
Effective at handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
Able to assimilate complex information, data, and the like from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of a particular need.
Effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and residents.
Physical Requirements
Physical agility and ability to move quickly in confined spaces
Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
Ability to push/pull/lift up to 100lbs.
Ability to multi-task and give direction under pressure.
Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Work in areas of high heat and humidity.
